Our Spaces

Clarence Johnson Auditorium

Constructed in 1955, Clarence Johnson Auditorium is the main stage at Downers Grove North. "The Aud" is the space used for our fall play and musical. Throughout the year, it will also be the site of many choir, band, and orchestra concerts, as well as the home for the Orchesis Dance Company, DGN Variety Show, and the Holiday Mosaic Performance and Art Show.

Studio Theatre

Originally a band classroom, 248 has acted as both a performance space and a classroom since its conversion in 2011. This dynamic space provides audiences and performers a more personal experience, being the stage for our Varsity Play, Winter One Acts, and Spring Studio Play. It is also used as an English classroom and for all theatre classes.

Backstage

We have multiple backstage spaces within the auditorium. This includes the scene shop, the dressing rooms, the George B. Pappas Green Room, our lights and sound booth, and multiple other storage locations. These are constantly being renovated and updated, to meet our changing needs for every production.
